April 16th run in remembrance

A 3.2-mile Run in Remembrance will start at Alumni Mall near the North Main Street entrance of campus and finish on the Drillfield near the April 16 Memorial. Participants may run or walk. Commemorative T-shirts will be provided to the first 4,000 people who register online. There is no cost to walk or run in the event.

Blacksburg Christmas Parade is online

If you missed the Blacksburg Christmas parade, WTOB has put a nice video online.

The parade was really good this year; lots of floats, lots of great classic cars, and a lot of horses!  And the music was outstanding--the Blacksburg High School marching band, under the direction of Mr. Darrell Pearman, has been terrific this year, and earned another "Superior" rating this fall.  The BHS band is on the way to a record breaking twentieth year of being ranked "Superior" overall.

Blacksburg Christmas Parade

The annual Blacksburg Christmas Parade will start at 7 PM tonight in downtown Blacksburg.  There is also a special farmer's market from 4 PM to 7 PM to celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished Farmer's Market on the corner of Roanoke and Draper Streets.  Blacksburg downtown merchants are also open late for shopping.

Great ideas for Halloween

Haunt Project is a great site if you are looking for ideas for costumes for Halloween or if you need some good ideas on how to scare the neighbor kids when they come calling on Halloween night.

I am still scarred from the freaky family that lived up the street from us.  I think it was probably fifth grade.  I was out collecting Halloween candy with a few friends, and we were about two blocks from home, but still in the same neighborhood.  But it was far enough away that we did not really know who lived in the houses.  Se we walk up to this one house and start ringing the doorbell.  read more »

OctoberFest at Mountain Lake

Draper Mile

The Draper Mile Run, now in its 26th year, is a one-mile road race for
runners of all ages. It’s held every year on the first evening of
Downtown Blacksburg’s Steppin’ Out Festival. The course is mostly

Blacksburg Fork and Cork
