If you missed the Blacksburg Christmas parade, WTOB has put a nice video online.

The annual Blacksburg Christmas Parade will start at 7 PM tonight in downtown Blacksburg.  There is also a special farmer's market from 4 PM to 7 PM to celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished Farmer's Market on the corner of Roanoke and Draper Streets.  Blacksburg downtown merchants are also open late for shopping.

Haunt Project is a great site if you are looking for ideas for costumes for Halloween or if you need some good ideas on how to scare the neighbor kids when they come calling on Halloween night.

I am still scarred from the freaky family that lived up the street from us.  I think it was probably fifth grade.  I was out collecting Halloween candy with a few friends, and we were about two blocks from home, but still in the same neighborhood.  But it was far enough away that we did not really know who lived in the houses.  Se we walk up to this one house and start ringing the doorbell.  read more »

Break out the lederhosen!  If you have not been to Mountain Lake for dinner during their OctoberFest season, you are in for a treat.  Great food and the world famous Sauerkraut Band.  More information is available at the Mountain Lake Hotel Web site. The Blacksburg Brew Do! is a craft beer festival that will be held at the First and Main shopping center on South Main Street in Blacksburg.  Tickets are available on line at the Web site.

The Draper Mile Run, now in its 26th year, is a one-mile road race for
runners of all ages. It’s held every year on the first evening of
Downtown Blacksburg’s Steppin’ Out Festival. The course is mostly
downhill, starting and ending on Draper Road in Blacksburg, with the
